What led you to join SBIA?
I’ve always had a passion for technology. I started programming in fifth grade, built websites for friends through middle and high school, and still enjoy experimenting with new tools today. I became interested in investing during university, and after several years at Goldman Sachs, joining SoftBank in 2019 felt like a natural next step. The first Vision Fund was just launching. It offered an exciting opportunity to combine my interests in technology and investment, and to have an impact on a global scale.

What kinds of sectors are you most focused on right now?
While I’ve worked across a wide range of tech sectors, over the past couple of years I’ve focused more on consumer and deep tech. I’m particularly drawn to autonomy, robotics, and automation, investing in everything from foundational AI software to its enabling hardware.

What’s the most rewarding part of your job?
One of the best parts of my job is meeting ambitious — sometimes even quirky — founders with deep insight into technology. It’s incredibly rewarding to help founders turn their vision into something real and watch their companies grow and evolve.

What drives your work today?
I am driven by the belief that technology can do real good for humankind. I closely resonate with Peter Thiel’s idea of the “definite optimist,” the belief that the future will be better than today if we plan for it and build it. For me, that means supporting emerging technologies that are reshaping industries and changing the world for the better.

What’s something people would be interested to know about you outside of work?
I enjoy cooking, mainly Sichuan-style Chinese food, the cuisine I grew up with. I enjoy making flavorful, sometimes spicy dishes that remind me of my younger time. One of my specialties is mouth-watering chicken, a classic Sichuan dish I often make for friends.
